BLURRED VISION

FRIDAY, MARCH 13, 2009  –  SHOWTIME: 11:30 pm

THE GREAT HALL
1087 Queen Street West (corner Dovercourt)

CMW Canadian Music Fest presents the Open Eyes Concert in support of the world’s leading human rights organization, Amnesty International. The festival spotlight will shine across the historic, vintage setting simply known as The Great Hall, for an evening of music, creative imagination and social awareness.

Headlining the evening are world rock group and long time Amnesty International supporters, BLURRED VISION, founders of the Amnesty-CMW showcase series. Iranian-born brothers and band founders Sepehr and Soheil, introduce a new line-up of extraordinary musicians hailing from all corners of the globe and taking the band to another plateau: Joel Lightman, Enrique De Vinatea, Nick Abecassis. This formidable, cohesive five-piece unit will take command of the stage at 11:30 pm  with what promises to be a powerful performance of sheer musical brilliance and visual inspiration.

The Open Eyes Concert marks the timely release of BLURRED VISION’s highly-anticipated EP.  The new CD offers a perceptive and profound view into humanity's current state of struggle and division with those around us and within ourselves. The music points to unity as a means to peace - actualized through a unique and truly ground breaking musical style fusing progressive rock with Persian/African influences and remarkable lyrical expression.

The Yarlowe Group, one of Canada's leading world music management groups opens the evening with an exceptional line-up of world music artists consisting: Brenda Macintyre (Juno award winning aboriginal artist), Dylan Murray (roots-reggae pop artist featured on MuchMusic), Roam (the international top ten charting global roots duo), Cassius Khan (Canada’s foremost tabla and ghazal wizard), Beyond the Pale (critically acclaimed, award winning Klezmer fusion ensemble).

With an array of video screenings including the exclusive video “IMAGINE”  from Amnesty International, using John Lennon's revolutionary song, and a lineup of music set to inspire the imagination of the audience, this promises to be a night to be remembered! We look forward to welcoming you to this event at the historic site of the Great Hall, in celebration of music and in support of vital efforts to uphold human rights.
