“Memorias de un Soñador” es el relato en primera persona de las atrocidades que soportó un prisionero político durante la cruel dictadura chilena de 1973.  Félix Mora revive la atroz tortura y la humillación que padeció a manos del Régimen de Pinochet,  y relata su vida de exiliado en Italia y Canadá. Más de treinta años después, se pregunta si estará listo para regresar a su país de origen o si estas experiencias lo han llevado a un punto sin retorno.

Material de archivo, dramatizaciones y narraciones personales revelan un documental impactante, emotivo y edificante; donde el terror y la injusticia se sobrellevan con valentía y determinación.

Este documental también cuestiona el supuesto de que los refugiados no pueden participar en la lucha de su país desde el extranjero y a la vez construir vidas exitosas en sus países adoptivos. Es además un testimonio de las vidas de muchos exiliados chilenos que nunca se rindieron.

"Memories of a Dreamer" is a first person account of the hardship suffered by a political prisoner from Chile’s 1973 cruel dictatorship. Félix Mora recounts shocking details of the torture he endured, his escape from the dictatorship and the challenges he has faced in exile in Italy and Canada. The question is: has Félix allowed torture and exile to shatter his dreams of obtaining justice and being able to return to Chile? Or has he used that suffering as a force to accomplish that dream?

Archival footage, dramatization and personal narratives bring to light an emotionally jolting and inspirational film, where the faces of terror and courage are apparent not only in the subject’s words, but also in the way the audience will associate his memories with what they see.

The film challenges the assumption that refugees can’t participate in their homeland’s struggles from abroad and still build successful lives in their new adopted countries. The film is also a testament to the lives of many exiled Chileans who never gave up.

Ambientada en las semanas previas y posteriores al golpe de Estado chileno de 1973, se centra en la figura de Harald Edelstam, el embajador sueco que hizo de la embajada un refugio para chilenos y extranjeros perseguidos por la Junta Militar, y denunció al exterior desapariciones y fusilamientos.  La historia descansa en la dignidad de Edelstam, quien contestaba a críticas con respuestas  tan serenas como que "Casos particulares exigen formas distintas de ejercer la diplomacia".  El protagonista se beneficia de una sencillez y mesura rara vez ligadas al  dibujo de un héroe social.

The film is about Harald Edelstam, Sweden’s ambassador to Chile who, after the military coup of Augusto Pinochet in 1973, managed to save the lives of more than 1,300 people by taking them to his embassy and transporting them to Sweden
His nickname comes from a fictional hero, The Scarlet Pimpernel, who saved many lives during the French Revolution.
