Nelly Furtado’s All-Spanish Mi Plan Set
For 15 September 2009 Release
Universal Music Canada (UMC), the country’s leading music company, today announced Nelly Furtado’s eagerly awaited all-Spanish language album, Mi Plan is set for release on 15 September 2009.
The first single, ‘Manos Al Aire’ (Hands in the Air) captures a woman’s outpouring of vulnerability for the sake of true love, and her eventual surrender to the inevitable.
The nine-time Juno Award winner’s fourth studio album and follow-up to the multi-platinum Loose, which propelled Furtado to top all global music sales in 2007, Mi Plan represents the realization of Nelly’s dream to further her natural musical expression in Spanish. Nelly has done many successful collaborations with artists all over the world in all different genres, but the collaborations with the Latin artists (Juanes and Calle 13) left her with this desire of expressing herself in this language. Mi Plan will once again demonstrate Furtado’s collaborative abilities as both a songwriter and co-producer, to work with leading lyricists, producers and guest artists from across the globe in creating uniquely fresh and passionately strong music.
“Mi Plan is my first full collection of Spanish-language pop songs,” explains Furtado. “The songs explore themes of love and the rhythm of everyday life.”
Nelly Furtado has sold more than a million records in Canada and nine million worldwide over a three studio album career.
