English & more info
The special occasion, of the first Spanish Gastronomic Week, in Toronto,
required the perfect touch of culinary excellence. Considered to be one of
the best chefs in Europe, Chef Adolfo Muñoz firmly represents, the title of
Master Chef, of the traditional cuisine from La Mancha.
Spain's La Mancha region brings to mind El Greco and Don Quixote, and
represents a perfect blend of different culinary traditions. Adolfo Muñoz's
craft takes the Christian, Muslim and Jewish traditions and reinvents them
in a modern and dynamic "resolution" and fusion. Owner of the most famous
restaurant in Toledo, "Adolfo" (as everyone calls him) has cooked for the
Royal House in Spain and is widely known throughout Europe. In recent times,
Chef Adolfo has diversified from restauranteur into TV celebrity, winemaking
master and olive oil "aficionado" producer, at his beloved "Los Cigarrales",
an astonishing country house and restaurant, overlooking the medieval city
of Toledo.
Chef Adolfo Muñoz has accepted our invitation to visit Toronto and he will
be cooking alongside some of the best Canadian chefs in town.
Some menus designed by Chef Adolfo and his hosts will be available
from the 2nd to the 5th of June at each restaurant for the delight of
everyone interested, of course by direct reservation to the restaurant.
* Being a teacher of several generations of students in Spain,
Chef Adolfo Muñoz expressed his desire to provide cooking demos for young
chefs and students during his visit to Canada. He will perform at Niagara
College on Monday June 7th, 2004 and possibly in some other schools in
Toronto.
Hoping you will feel as excited as we are about the Spanish Gastronomic Week
in Toronto, please consider this as your invitation to GustoSpain! to be
held at Hart House on June 3rd 2004, from 10am to 6pm. A specific schedule
of events and tastings will follow. For additional information please get in
touch with Mr. José Luis Atristain at the Commercial Office of Spain in
