Fr. Hernan Astudillo receives an award from the City of TorontoDear Friends

With great pride and gratitude, I would like to inform you that Fr. Hernan Astudillo received an award from Mayor Miller this past Monday on behalf of the City of Toronto in recognition of the Caravan of Hope and Father's contribution to our city.

Being present in the chambers as this honour was bestowed upon Fr. Hernan and witnessing the standing ovation he received prior to his heartfelt speech, was truly an emotional moment for all of us; not only because this was recognition of his accomplishments in El Salvador and Toronto, but also because we briefly recalled the trials and tribulations that Father experienced a few years ago.

It is at times such as this, that we must celebrate as a community because we too are being recognized and honoured for our efforts. It is not the award that is important, but the selfless acts by Fr. Hernan and so many others that contribute to the empowerment of the Latino people. It is the dreams fulfilled that inspire us to continue and it is the dreamer and visionary, Fr. Hernan, who encourages us to continue making a difference in the world.

Thank you Fr. Hernan for showing us the beauty of faith, light and love and the power of courage, justice and truth!

Sincerely

Michelle Maron
